In the latest episode of Roads, Rails, & Rides, host Jeb Morris sat down with, Masato Inoue, CEO of INOUE Design & Consulting, Professor at Institute D’Arte e Design (IAAD) in Torino Italy and Founder of Green Mobility Partners. Previously, Inoue was the Design Director for the first generation of the Nissan LEAF, making him a preeminent voice in electric vehicle design.

Inoue outlined how automakers face a challenge in creating a driving platform that is large enough for people to want to drive it but represents a profitable business model for the manufacturer. When presented with the question of how soon consumers might see an affordable, meaning $30,000 or less, car capable of a 300-mile range, Inoue labeled 2029 as the year it might occur.
