Diamond Kinetics uses embedded sensors to help MLB batters and pitchers improve performance

Diamond Kinetics, launched in Pittsburgh in 2013, early on developed bat sensors that analyze a batter’s swing. Using the same sensors in their new PitchTracker, the embedded device can now analyze pitches as well. Product developers Buddy Clark and CJ Handron saw that collecting this data could help match baseball and softball players with a properly-fitted bat while improving their game.

The availability of this data is creating a huge shift in multiple aspects of the sport, from perspective to play and practice to recruitment, by providing more accurate data and personalized information. In addition, these and other developments in the industry are transforming Pittsburgh to sports technology hub.
