MarketScale’s award-winning original series, “Made in America,” hits the highways and byways of our country seeking out American-made, American-proud companies that are the backbone of our great nation.

Over the course of the Tidel episode of MarketScale’s Made In America series, we learned a lot about the diligence and quality Tidel puts into its products.

In this bonus segment, we wanted to explore how this company got started in the most unlikely of ways, so we went to Sierra Vista, Arizona to talk a stepson of one of the co-founders, Terry Dryer.

He walked us through how the origin of the idea of the time-delay safe came about through a late night poker game a convenience store owner had with his engineer friends from Boeing.

Once the prototype was built, Dryer knew the opportunity this product presented and helped go all in on this company as its first sales hire. The road for the young company was not always smooth, but, once they found their footing within the gas station security ecosystem, they quickly became a part of one of the biggest names in the business – the 7-Eleven Corporation.
