A December 2017 report cited a concerned mother who had her daughter’s makeup kit tested in a lab. The conductor of the tests that found the asbestos says he stands by the results, saying some company’s testing standards are lax. Claire’s says that it’s requested the full testing data many times and has received no response. This time last year Claire’s pulled the plug on an IPO, struggling to profit and pay off debts.
