Austin-based Whole Foods has recently rolled out Amazon Prime savings in their western, mid-western, and southern locations, as well as in all of their Whole Foods Market 365 stores. This move offers Amazon Prime members an extra 10% off at checkout via the Whole Foods app, their Amazon sign in, or the shopper’s mobile number.
A.C. Gallo, Whole Foods’ President and Chief Operating Officer, said earlier this month, “We’re excited that Prime savings will be available at nearly half of our Whole Foods Market stores this week, giving more Prime members access to great deals just in time for summer. ” He further remarked, “Based on the positive customer feedback and successes we’ve seen over the past month, we’re accelerating our timeline to expand these savings to all of our U.S. stores.”
Prime members will receive special deals plus an extra 10% off hundreds of sale items at Whole Foods Market. Blue sale signs will indicate special deals only available to Prime members, while yellow signs on existing sale items indicate an extra 10% savings (excluding alcohol) for Prime members. Amazon savings is even applicable to delivery orders via Prime Now.
Prime Now, which is currently available in several cities, offers free two-hour delivery on orders over $35, and the service is scheduled to be rolled out to more key markets this year. Additionally, eligible Prime members also get 5% back on Whole Foods purchases when using their Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card.
Shoppers who want to sign up for Prime to capture more savings at Whole Foods stores can try the service free for 30 days. In addition to special savings at Whole Foods Markets, members also receive Prime benefits such as fast, free delivery on over 100 million items on Amazon.com, unlimited streaming on thousands of popular movies and TV shows with Prime Video, and ad-free streaming of over 2 million songs with Prime Music, and much more.
Whole Foods Market was acquired by Amazon in 2017. Their partnership is focused on providing the highest quality, delicious natural and organic products Whole Foods shoppers’ have come to expect. But rebranding price cuts as a Prime member benefit allows Amazon to bring prices down and remain competitive in the grocery business while driving wider-reaching loyalty.
