American rock band, The War on Drugs, recently played Alexandra Palace, a venue that presents a number of unique sound challenges. Band FOH engineer Bob Strakele drew on past experience in the decision to use an MLA system. Based on the venue’s heavy glaze and infamous reverberations, an MLA system with a “hard avoid” function seemed perfect. This powerful “hard avoid” tool is unique to Martin’s Audio and is used to designate areas for avoidance and to reduce spill. The design and attention to common sound pitfalls made for a successful show in front of a sold-out crowd 10,000 strong.
