Sussex Air Ambulance is testing a new app that allows paramedics to see a patient before they get to them. The ‘GoodSAM’ app sends a text message to the caller’s phone, after an emergency call has been placed. The app accesses the camera and starts a live video stream back to the emergency service.

The technology is especially useful for injuries like burns, so responders can see the extent of injury so assessment can be made quickly. The apps ability to record patient’s pulses will also enhance decision-making and emphasize the severity of a situation. The trial has been running for about 2 months.
