The FDA has finally cleared Empatica’s “Embrace,” a wearable device that helps detect seizures. The approval is for prescription only, meaning those interested must talk to their neurologist to start using the Embrace. Though wearable health devices aren’t uncommon, Empatica envisioned a device that both functions and is attractive to wear for a condition that some are self-conscious about.

In addition to detecting seizures, the devices actively collect data for correlations to sleep, diet, and more. Soon, Embrace may be able to predict seizures. What’s next for wearable tech in health?
