Watch: E. Coli Outbreak in Romaine Lettuce Climbing; Pennsylvania Hit Hardest
31 new cases of E. coli have been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention over the past week. The CDC disclosed the outbreak on April 10th, and the total number of cases has reached 84. So far, 42 people have hospitalized and nine developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure….
31 new cases of E. coli have been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention over the past week. The CDC disclosed the outbreak on April 10th, and the total number of cases has reached 84.
So far, 42 people have hospitalized and nine developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure. Pennsylvania has the highest amount of recorded cases, with 12 confirmed.
The CDC projects that the contaminated lettuce came from the Yuma, AZ area, but hasn’t identified a common grower, supplier, distributor or brand of romaine. It is urgent that restaurants and retailers query distributors about where they source their romaine lettuce.
