In a time that food is being produced on a massive scale the Food and Agriculture Organization reminds us that poor livestock farmers should not be left behind. The FAO wants to bring awareness to the need for livestock farming and have the opportunity accessible to everyone. Graziano Da Silva, Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization said, “More that half the world’s rural poor rely on livestock, and they must be provided with appropriate skills, knowledge and technologies to participate in a benefit from that expected growth rather than pushed aside by expanding large capital-intensive operations.” By bringing sustainable farming and livestock production to poverty stricken areas of the world, the FAO believes that they can empower those that need help the most.
