As data center technology becomes smaller and more powerful, the associated costs and facility requirements are shrinking in size, as well.

With the continuing reduction in space, cooling, and power required to implement and maintain the new breed of “micro data centers”, existing building infrastructure can be leveraged to house the new systems without significant investment.

Micro data centers can operate realistically at a 50% savings over a traditional data center, without the need for a dedicated, newly-constructed facility.

In addition, with the ever-shrinking nature of network equipment, the rack space being required is also reducing drastically. This increased efficiency allows cooling and power needs to be handled adequately by the building’s existing environmental control systems.

The modular nature of this new development in networking technology also allows for easy, cost-effective deployment as capacity needs grow.
