Listen: Washington Approves 4 Billion In Construction

Washington is in for a great surprise as the State Legislature recently approved $4.2 billion worth of state construction projects after running into a hiccup previously over domestic water well usage within rural areas of the state. These projects include affordable housing, K-12 and primary school construction, and of course, public works. This approval was on the fence for a while due to the concern of how this would affect local rivers and streams regarding those with well-established water rights. A Washington State Supreme Court decision originally stopped the project back in 2016 as it prohibited the drilling of wells, however, this also prevented some landowners from moving forward in building their homes. Some opposition has been evident in this case as the EPA has even reached the federal level when it comes to proposing alternative options. Either way, it appears for now, the recent compromise will have to do.
