The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Construction Index (CCI) reported continuing optimism in increased demand for construction contractors in Q1 2018. CCI relies on scores in three primary drivers — backlog, new business, and revenue. At the same time, the industry is struggling with a labor shortage. Prefabrication is one model that may alleviate these issues on projects of all sizes. Prefab offers higher levels of productivity and efficiency, which counteracts some of the challenges of too few workers seeking construction jobs.
