Field Controls is proud to unveil its latest innovation in combustion safety: the VPS Vent Proving Switch. Designed for gas-fired category one appliances like furnaces, boilers, and water heaters equipped with a draft hood, the VPS ensures the proper operation of these negative-vented appliances by monitoring vent gas temperature. If back drafting occurs, the VPS will shut off the main burner to prevent the spillage of combustion products into the home.

Installed downstream of the draft hood, the VPS works seamlessly with Field Controls’ GVD Vent Damper through its wire harness assembly, enabling easy electrical connection with the appliance safety circuit. When the appliance is idle, the VPS remains in standby mode. Once a heat call is initiated, the VPS starts its vent proving timer and opens the GVD. It continuously monitors vent gas temperature and safeguards against back drafting by initiating a soft lockout if temperatures decrease significantly.

With energy-efficient homes leading to increased depressurization issues, the VPS Vent Proving Switch offers vital protection for homes and occupants. Contact Field Controls today to learn more about this cutting-edge solution.
