Nevada District Uses Data Tool To Increase Graduation Rates

High School students who drop out or fail is common but maybe there is something out there to help certain people receive the help they need to graduate and succeed. With large districts housing hundreds of students in each class, it’s easy to get lost in the system of names but Nathan Trenholm and Justin White, former district staffers, may have the solution. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal,” It’s a data visualization tool is helping educators in the Clark County (NV) School District better monitor which students are on track to graduate and increase support for those who are not. Say if a student is missing a credit or not taking the right course, the data can pinpoint a person and give staff and tutors direct access to help said person. As with any new technology there are kinks and concerns that need to be addressed but if there is any hope for it, Cimarron-Memorial High School used the tool and it contributed to an increase in the graduation rate from 62% in 2013 to 95% this year, Las Vegas Review-Journal states.
