Connectivity continues to be a challenge for school districts. Nonprofit Connected Nation reported that only 47% of school districts meet the FCC’s 1Mbps/student standard. To put this in perspective, that leaves about two-thirds of students are without “scalable broadband.” While many students are learning virtually, many districts across the country are back in class or in a hybrid model.

Kevin Hogan, MarketScale’s host of Remote Possibilities, joined Daniel Litwin with his thoughts on the challenges, discussing topics around the bandwidth consumption of edtech applications, the motivators and inhibitors of upgrades, and how can the edtech community support these needs.

  • New research from Connected Nation shows only one-third of students have the FCC’s target bandwidth of 1 Mbps.
  • Though COVID has moved tech concerns to the home, in-school infrastructure will have a renewed focus in 2021.
  • Remote Possibilities’ Kevin Hogan gives his perspective on how edtech companies should respond.
