Adult Education Suffers Similar Pandemic Setbacks as K-12

The landscape of education in America has changed dramatically this year, for both K-12 students and adult learners as well. A recent report from ProLiteracy, conducted b E-BAES Taskforce and EdTech Center @ World Education, interviewed teachers, educators, and tutors in the adult education space, providing a diverse set of data illustrating the challenges and successes experienced during the pandemic pivot.

MarketScale Radio unpacks the ProLiteracy report with the host of education podcast “Remote Possibilities,” Kevin Hogan. Hogan says the findings are not unlike those demonstrated in K-12 learning, with distance learning presenting both solutions and challenges for students. In the adult education space, Hogan points out, many students dropped off their studies, unable to keep up with the stress of the pandemic. But at the root of it all, says Hogan, is a digital inequity that is pervasive throughout the education landscape. Until everyone has access to the internet and digital devices that are so integral to today’s blended learning, gains will not be seen across the board and inequities will build.
