Amritanshu develop computational methods and models for electrical energy systems with a real-world impact. His focus areas are sustainable smart cities, renewable integration, electric mobility, grid reliability and resilience, cybersecurity, and energy equity. In the past, Amritanshu (with his colleagues) developed a novel circuit-theoretic simulation and optimization framework for power grids. The project culminated in a new grid analytics tool: Simulation of Unified Grid Analysis and Renewables (SUGAR), which has since been commercialized at Pearl Street Technologies, Inc.

Smart infrastructure simultaneously decarbonizes cities and strengthens community safety

Pandey argues that smart city technologies—particularly AI-enabled infrastructure and connected systems—create a dual value proposition where environmental decarbonization and public safety reinforce each other rather than trade off. He demonstrates that this convergence transforms neighborhoods economically and socially, not merely through efficiency gains, but through measurable improvements in quality of life that justify continued investment.
